HLTAID004  PROVIDE AN EMERGENCY FIRST AID RESPONSE IN AN EDUCATION AND CARE SETTING
(Also known as Childcare First Aid Course)
 
This course is for educators and support staff working within an education and/or care setting and who may be required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. This course meets the requirement of First Aid, Asthma and Anaphlaxis training under the education care services national law and education care services national regulations (2011) and has been approved by ACECQA. This course is also for anyone working in childcare, family day care, pre-school, before and after school care services, and is beneficial for those working with young adults.
Qualification: On successful completion of the course, students are awarded with a statement of attainment in:
HLTAID004- Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting
HLTAID003- Provide First Aid
HLTAID002-Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
HLTAID001- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Statement of attainments are issued on the day of the course to learners found competent (Same Day Certificate).
Entry Requirements: Learners will be required to pass a basic language, literacy and numeracy test before confirmation of enrolment or immediately prior to commencing the training. Learners must also be able to do CPR on the floor, including kneeling down and performing chest compressions.
COVID 19 TEMPORARY CHANGE
Our Class size has been reduced to a maximum of nine so as to meet government requirement of 1 person per four square metre.
Please note, theory sessions are to be completed online prior to attendance for the face to face practical sessions on the day of the course. The course duration for the face to face has now reduced to three to four hours depending on class size. Once the pandemic is over, we will go back to our normal (face to face training) and (blended online and face to face training) of which our normal course duration and options are shown below.
Course Duration: There are two options for the delivery of this unit. 
Option One : One day course with an online training component to be completed prior to attendance. 
Option Two: One day course approxiamately 9 hours  with bigger assessment completed on the day of the course plus pre-reading.
