Course Summary of (SMHFA) Standard Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health Problems covered are: Depression, Psychosis, Anxiety problems and Substance use problems.Mental Health Crisis covered are: Suicidal thoughts and behaviours, Non-suicidal self-injury, Severe psychotic states, Aggressive behaviours, Panic attacks, Traumatic events, Severe effects from alcohol/drug use.

- Entry Requirements: There are no pre-requisites for this course. Any adult can attend.
- Minimum Age: 18 years and above.
- Course Duration: 2 days (12 hours)
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) requirements:
Learners will require suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills such as read information from a PowerPoint, listen and understand verbal information delivered by an English-speaking instructor.
Certification Issued: Certificate is issued by Mental Health First Aid Australia. On successful completion of the post training assessment, a certification is issued as an accredited Mental Health First Aider.
This course does not form part of a Vocational Education Qualification. Accreditation is provided by Mental Health First Aid Australia (https://mhfa.com.au/ )
Certificate Validity: Three years from the date of issue. Refresher training is required after 3 years. In the sixth year, the full course must be completed again.
